Transport on the Wedding Day

Getting to and from the Chateau

A complimentary bus to and from the wedding will be provided for guests staying in Eymet.  Pick up will be at 2pm from the bus stop opposite the restaurant La Cour d'Eymet, returning at the end of the night.

For those staying in Bergerac, a taxi has been arranged to and from the wedding.

You are welcome to drive to the wedding and leave your car overnight.

It is recommended that, if you are not staying directly in Eymet or Bergerac that you book a taxi service now to avoid distinct possibility of having to sleep on a lounger/where you fall.

Things to Do

Wine Tasting Around Bergerac

Look out for the many 'Route du Vin' signs around the region. Just as good as it's haute neighbour, but a fraction of the cost and far more welcoming!

Head to some of our faves for a jolly afternoon jaunt:

Château Corbiac (Pecharmant)

Run by Teresa who only drinks wine as old as she is, this is our top choice for bold reds.

Château Terre Ville (Pecharmant)

If you’ve been to our London Troll Hole, you’ve likely drunk through a bottle (or two) of this vineyards wine (sshhh, don’t tell Matthew… It was supposed to be kept and laid down for 10 yrs…!).

Taste the flint through the grapes in this understated beauty of a vineyard. Take a picnic of baguette and saucisson, purchase a bottle of their great plonk, and plop yourself on their lawn to while away the afternoon (usually entrepreneurial for the Bergerac region!).

Château de Monbazillac

16th Century ‘Beauty and the Beast’ Renaissance Château anyone….? Take your sweet tooth along as this house prides itself in it’s dessert wine. We like it so much it will feature as our ‘pudding wine’.

Cycling

Hire some bikes from one of the many establishments in the area and be like the Tour de France. A quieter route is here

French Markets

Wander aimlessly around the French markets, sit and have a café au lait and watch the world go by like those for centuries gone by have done.

Eymet: Thursday mornings – general market. This market has been running regularly since 1270.

Monpazier: Saturday mornings – fresh produce

Issigeac: Sunday mornings – general market.

Must Sees

Monpazier

Monpazier is a simply stunning town, founded in 1284 by Edward 1 of England. Its medieval centre is preserved almost completely intact, and it is quite possibly the best of all the bastide towns to visit and recapture life 600 years ago. It is listed as one of the 'most beautiful villages in France'.

Prehistoric Caves

If you are here for a little longer than the wedding shenanigans, get your geek, awe and wonder on at caves where prehistoric man frequented 15000 years ago!
